Instrumentation Mechanic (Maintenance)
Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to join the team as an Instrumentation Mechanic to contribute to the organization's value creation capabilities. Our Team
Based in Brandon, Manitoba, Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC's (KFCU) operations have been producing agricultural fertilizer products since 1967. We synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, successful applicants will be hired into this position at (M1 - $52.10). All overtime is paid at double time.
What You Will Do
• Pneumatic tubing and electrical wiring on existing installations
• Temperature sensors and indicators
• Pressure and vacuum sensors and indicators
• Oxygen and gas analysis equipment in laboratories
• Moisture and humidity sensing and indicating systems
• Sensors and indicators measuring speed, position and timing
• Pneumatic or electronic transmitters and data scanning systems
• Monitoring and alarm systems
Other duties include:
• Reading blueprints to determine the size and nature of installations
• Determining and mark access routes for equipment
• Diagnosing malfunctions and conduct repairs
• Examining and adjust equipment
• Assisting in selecting and planning maintenance and inspection programs and training maintenance crews
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer
• Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights
• Ability to pass pulmonary breathing test
• Ability to wear gas mask-type respirator and PPE
• Tolerance to fumes and airborne particles (occasional exposure)
• Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant
• Availability for shift work and emergency call out
• Ability to travel to and enter site and access equipment
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
• Interprovincial Red Seal Instrumentation certification
• High school diploma or equivalent (ie. GED)
• Valid Class Five (5) driver's license
• At least three (3) years of related industrial experience
What Will Put You Ahead
• Ability to work proficiently in a variety of tasks
• Current knowledge of new developments in instrumentation technology
• Experience and understanding of instrumentation requirements of mechanical equipment and building maintenance
• Experience working with maintenance planning programs such as Maximo or similar
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills as well as mechanical and operations aptitude
• Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite
