Environmental Field Technician (Field Based) (Finance)

ERM is hiring an Environmental Field Technician to work a project-based opportunity in Medicine Hat, Canada. In this role, you will complete post-construction monitoring field surveys of wind turbines.
This is a part-time, (at least 30 hours a week) limited-term role with a duration of 8 months, extendable. Training will be provided for all client-specific and site-specific safety, security, sampling and inspection procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete post-construction bird and bat mortality surveys
- Data and information management
- Walk long distances and carry heavy field equipment
- Promote safety awareness and the safe performance of our work
- Contribute to a positive, professional environment
SCHEDULE:
- Three- four days per week in the field, generally during the daytime with majority of time traveling and on-site
- Daily hours and duration are variable depending on the site location and work to be completed; to a maximum of 12-hour days
- Accommodations will be coordinated near Medicine Hat for overnights during field shifts
- Workdays are scheduled in advance monthly to maintain survey consistency
- Potential for occasional weekend and holiday field shifts
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 0-3 years of field experience required
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Biological or Environmental Sciences, or related field required
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record is required; ability to drive to the various project locations. Ability to rent a vehicle.
- Effective observational and organization skills; experience recording detailed technical data an asset.
- Effective communication skills with ERM and client staff.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel) for communication and preparation of inspection documentation.
