The Configuration Management Lead works in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to ensure that data accuracy, consistency and configuration is maintained across all systems. This position has a wide exposure to a diverse set of stakeholders and works closely with the production and engineering teams.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at Pemberton 2 in North Vancouver.
What you'll do
Supports Configuration Management planning in line with International Standards (EIA-649C) and VSY Configuration & Data Management Plan.
Provides leadership and management of CM team members, assigning tasks, performance goals and prioritizes workloads.
Supports manager in assessing team resource requirements and headcount planning.
Manages onboarding of new team members and ensures completion of assigned safety protocols and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Controls Project technical and non-technical documentation through the creation of Configured Baselines and supports maintenance of Projects' Master Product Lists (MPL).
Identifies configuration deficiencies relative to the project phase and coordinates their resolution with stakeholders.
Acts as a point of contact for allocating tasks and liaises with external customers and production departments to resolve issues.
Supervises part and document configuration throughout the entire design, build and test lifecycle.
Supports DTO/BTS with identification and prioritization of User Enhancement Requests and supports associated User Acceptance Tests (as required).
Supervises the creation and maintenance of various Configuration Status Accounting metrics and associated reports.
Reviews the use of the Bill of Material within the PLM tool, identifies deficiencies relative to the project phase and coordinates completion.
Supervises the creation and lifecycle of Enterprise Change Requests & Notifications (ECR/ECNs) in the PLM tool after change approval.
Supervises the Stop Work process, preventing rework in production and procurement.
Contributes to the development and implementation of new concepts and techniques.
Supports training for external and internal users on PLM tools.
Performs additional duties as required.
What you'll bring
Diploma or Technical certification in a relevant subject area
Minimum 6 of experience working with large data sets in manufacturing firm (Shipbuilding industry preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with coaching and supervising people.
Certification in Configuration Management or Project Management, desirable.
Registration as an EIT with EGBC is an asset.
Comprehensive understanding of shipbuilding operations and relationship between planning, procurement, design, production and project management office.
Expert knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management tools (ARAS preferred).
Detailed knowledge of configuration standard methodologies (EIA-649 Configuration Management and ISO 10007).
Understanding of creating and implementing procedures to correct and maintain data.
Technical skills with capability to read and interpret shipbuilding technical drawings.
Good communication skills across diverse partners, both written and verbal.
Ability to process detailed information consistently.
Ability to exercise good judgment and reasoning skills.
Understanding of schedules generated by independent planning systems. Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks from various customers.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,500 - $104,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
