The ILS Supervisor, Training is responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of technical and non-technical training programs within a defense/shipbuilding environment. Working closely with the LSA Manager, the incumbent will ensure that all training initiatives are aligned with project requirements, regulatory standards, and the broader organizational goals. This role involves leading a team of ILS Specialists (Training) and liaising with key stakeholders-including Supply Chain, Functional Engineering, Configuration Management, Project Management Office, and other internal departments-to develop and maintain a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting current and future naval/defense projects.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs and curricula for naval systems.
Oversee the creation of instructional materials, manuals, e-learning modules, and practical exercises in line with defense and industry standards.
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of ILS Specialists (Training), providing the necessary resources and guidance.
Coordinate with the LSA Manager to translate logistics support requirements into actionable training plans.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Functional Engineering, Configuration Management, Project Management Office, Supply Chain and other internal departments) to identify training needs and validate effectiveness.
Serve as the primary point of contact for training-related enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure all training activities comply with relevant defense regulations, certification standards, and company / customer quality management systems.
Develop and manage the training department's budget, including forecasting costs for materials and facilities.
Identify and secure necessary training resources such as classrooms, simulators, and equipment.
Evaluate and manage external vendors for specialized training, including contract negotiation and service quality monitoring.
Identify risks and opportunities within the training function, implementing mitigation strategies and innovations.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance within the training team.
Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in training, adult learning, and defense/shipbuilding standards.
Provide support to the ILS Project Managers by attending meetings, providing technical advice, and resourcing their programs with individual contributors.
Responsible for development, documentation, and enforcement of Training standards and processes.
Perform the duties of an ILS Specialist (Training) as workload dictates.
Any other duties as required by LSA Manager.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree in education, Engineering, Logistics, Project Management, Human Resources or equivalent applicable experience.
5+ years of experience in developing and delivering training programs preferably within a defense, maritime or heavy engineering environment.
2+ years of leadership of supervisory experience, with a proven track record of managing teams and delivering results.
PMP / PEng or related certifications are desirable.
Demonstrated experience with structured military training systems such as Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES), Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL), Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT), or Systems Approach to Training (SAT).
Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional systems design, curriculum development, and the ADDIE model.
Ability to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs in alignment with defense training methodologies.
Proficient with Learning Management Systems and content creation tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, I Spring Suite, Moodle, Canvas or OnCourse.
Working knowledge of shipbuilding processes, naval systems, or engineering concepts.
Understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) frameworks and life-cycle management.
Ability to design and deploy blended learning solutions (classroom, e-learning, on-the-job training).
Effective team building and leadership abilities, with experience leading diverse teams.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and manage stakeholder expectations.
Capacity to plan, prioritize, and oversee multiple projects within strict deadlines.
Proficiency in project management tools and techniques (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting materials and facilitating workshops.
Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills to interpret training metrics and performance data for continuous improvement.
Proactive approach to identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and driving implementation.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance as per contract requirements.
Willingness to travel domestically, as required, to support training initiatives across multiple sites.

The estimated salary for this position is $112,700 - $135,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
