Accountant (Administrative)

Your Job

We are looking for an Accountant who will be based out of DarkVision's head office in North Vancouver, Canada. Reporting to DarkVision's Financial Controller, this role will encompass the management, reporting and consolidation of DarkVision's accounting and financial data.

You'll be a key part of our growing finance team at DarkVision, a fast-growing tech company which is developing new products and entering new markets. As such the accounting work is fast paced, interesting, and we promise you'll never have a dull day! As well as being an excellent accountant, you'll need to be personable and a great communicator, as you will be talking to the other teams daily to solve their problems, help them understand their spending, and drive good cost management throughout the business.

The ideal candidate will be practical, detail-oriented and able to apply accounting processes, principles, and systems consistently. Most importantly you must be open minded, positive and interested in using your accounting skills to help build a better business. This role is ideal for someone who likes being an accountant but loves people more!

What You Will Do

• Financial Reporting: Work with the team to keep our books rock solid and accurate. Support the monthly close process by performing a variety of tasks including fixed asset and bank reconciliations, payroll, and anything else we account for.
• Process Improvement: You'll be encouraged to improve the various processes, procedures, controls, or software across all financial reporting areas of DarkVision. We're fast growing, with never ending change, so continuous improvement will be a big part of the role
• Working with other teams : Our amazing engineering, sales, and ops teams are not overly concerned with the finer details of accounting. That's ok, because you'll have the joy of being the person who lends them a hand and can help them manage their costs!
• Everything & Anything: There will be a wide assortment of standard and not-so-standard tasks that you'll be expected to complete. No task is either above or beneath anyone at DarkVision.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Education/Experience: Accounting/Business Diploma, or 3-5 years' bookkeeping/accounting experience.
• General Competence : At DarkVision, there is a very high bar for general all-around competence and the ability to get things done quickly, thoroughly, and effectively without compromising quality.
• Communication : You must be comfortable reaching out and connecting with staff across the organization to succeed. Building excellent working relationships with the team will be meaningful in this role.
• Sense of Humour: We work hard but don't take ourselves too seriously.
• Attention to Detail: We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented and enjoys keeping themselves and the people around them organized.

• Development: A natural curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and being receptive to coaching and constructive feedback is necessary for success in this role.

General Salary Range

• For this role, we anticipate paying $60,000 to $80,000 per year.
