Senior Programmer Analyst (Information Technology)

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Programmer Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, a passion for solving complex problems, and the ability to lead and mentor junior developers.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:
• Complete service requests related to the technical support of production systems including fixes, changes, enhancements and maintenance.
• Follow change management procedures, and other policies and work processes when completing service requests.
• Liaise with users to gather and analyze requirements and to determine appropriate solutions for changes and enhancements to production applications.
• Collaborate with business clients other support teams to establish automated test plans
• Recommend, design and implement technical and functional solutions to client requests.
• Create and modify code, screens and reports according to published standards and considering the Information Management and Information Protection requirements for the system.
• Develop/maintain secure application code that may be integrated with other customized or commercial software programs.
• Create and modify forms, manuals, programs, data files, procedures and other documentation for systems and/or applications.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of changes by preparing test plans and sample data, and testing them by means of unit, functional, integration, system and user acceptance testing.
• Complete quality and peer reviews as required, to ensure high quality technical deliverables and documentation.
• Assist with the implementation and secure integration of applications including Vulnerability Assessments and Transition Procedures.
• Document status and time on assigned tickets in ticket management system.
• Provide subject-matter expertise on projects to upgrade and migrate the applications.
WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:
• University degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years in an IT application development and operations (DevOps) environment.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience creating and maintaining project and system documentation, including test plans, user guides, implementation plans, Operations Procedure Manuals (OPM), Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, etc.
• Demonstrated experience working with PL/SQL and Oracle Databases.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery.
• Experience with technologies such as Tomcat/Apache, Bootstrap.
• Experience building and maintaining web applications.
• Experience building and maintaining employee time and attendance tracking applications.
• Experience with responsive web design, including frameworks like Bootstrap or media queries.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience working in the public sector.
