Job Description and Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and safety-minded Labourer to join our fast-paced team. In this entry-level position within the steel industry, you will be responsible for picking up non-ferrous inventory, processing scrap vehicles, and assisting Equipment Operators with repairs and maintenance. - Keeps the work area clean and ready to go daily
- Reports any issues that arise immediately
- Assists shredder mechanics during projects
- Assists in meeting monthly production goals
Requirements
- Completion of High School and/or equivalent
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
- Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
- Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
- Ability to learn and follow direction
- Mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
- Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and makes sure everyone around is working safely
- Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Needs reliable transportation as the work site is not accessible by public transit
