This Project Manager is responsible for leading the Program Management Office in the execution of the Polar Icebreaker. You will be responsible for all aspects of project management and provide leadership of an integrated project team to successfully realize the program goals. You will be responsible for developing execution strategies and plans, handling budgets, prioritizing resources and analyzing and reporting performance to senior managers.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
Initiates, sets and delivers program goals that realize business success.
Maintains strong and effective relationships with the Client and strategic suppliers.
Provides project management support in the coordination and execution of assigned activities and deliverables. Works closely with cross-discipline shipyard teams including, but not limited to, estimating, commercial, planning and project controls, engineering, supply chain and operations to ensure the Project is successful.
Develops or assists in the generation of management plans, proposals, business cases, estimates, risk mitigation actions, plans and schedules.
Controls and monitors the work; collating variance analysis and key performance metrics to measure project performance.
Produces management reports and presentations that highlight Project status against established goals and plans.
Attends regular review meetings, and presents a summary of risks and opportunities to Project partners, including members of the senior management team and the Client (as appropriate).
Works with shipyard departments, suppliers, contractors and the Client in resolving outstanding issues.
Tracks actions and commitments identified during Project meetings. Establishes ambitious but achievable timeframes and works closely with action owners to complete open commitments.
Responsible for the application of a suitable program management framework, ensuring that Gate Reviews are conducted at appropriate points during the program lifecycle.
Direct management responsibility of staff assigned to support program delivery.

What you'll bring
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business is desired. Diplomas may be accepted with sufficient employment experience.
8-10 years demonstrated experience in heavy industry such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, or construction, with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility.
Certified project management qualification a distinct advantage (e.g. PMP).
Demonstrated experience handling sophisticated projects, bids or proposals. Solid ability to meet or exceed commitments in a fast paced, diverse environment with rapid change and competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience leading people and significant budgets.
Experienced with Earned Value Management.
Detailed understanding of project management techniques and methods.
Good judgment and prioritization abilities.
Effective, efficient communication skills.
A strong business sense.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to strategize and see the bigger picture, whilst focusing on the details.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to empower and empathize with team members.
Ability to influence others and manage expectations.
Familiarity with Government contracting and performance management of major subcontractors.

The estimated salary for this position is $108,000 - $132,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
